Female Counsellor, Strengthening the Child Protection Systems in Maharashtra
Job Summary:
The Counsellor will be responsible in the implementation of ‘Strengthening the Child Protection Systems in Maharashtra’ project in the city of Mumbai which involves working with victims of child sexual abuse, their families and other stakeholders.
- The counsellor would primarily be responsible for carrying out counselling session with child victims of sexual abuse
- Providing support to parents through psychoeducation and developing a
supportive environment in the family - Providing mental health support to victims during court procedures
- Networking with various stakeholders like CWC, Police, Hospital, NGOs
in Child Protection sector. - Training and developing module focusing on the mental health issues of
child victims as well as practitioners working with them.
The job profile requires intensive outreach services, conducting home based
counselling sessions with victims and families. The job requires extensive
travelling across Mumbai for the same. The candidate will be given intensive training on the varied aspects of working with children who are victims of sexual abuse. The candidate will report to the Project Manager and the senior leadership team of Prerana.
Required Abilities:
a. Sound Knowledge of Marathi, Hindi & English
b. Must be able to read and write in Marathi
c. Must be able to travel to the field work areas and communities
d. Passionate about Child Rights & Child Protection
e. Sensitivity towards victims & families
f. Must be Self Driven & willing to work as part of a larger team
g. Demonstrate successful experience of utilizing range of therapeutic
intervention
h. Willingness to become familiar with legal procedures and structures of
child protection system.
Remuneration:
Based on the experience and qualification
Travel costs and communication costs will be reimbursed separately
