What are FASTags?<\/strong>
FASTags are prepaid rechargeable tags for toll collection that allow automatic payment deduction from the FASTag, they are normally affixed on the windscreen of your vehicle. With the help of a FASTag, you will not have to stop your vehicle at toll plazas to pay the toll. As soon as the vehicle crosses the toll plaza, the toll fee will get deducted from the bank account\/prepaid wallet linked to the FASTag affixed on the vehicle’s windscreen. An activated FASTtag works on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. Moreover, these FASTags do not have any expiry date, that is, they can be used as long as they are readable at the toll plaza and are not tampered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the beginning of the next month, it will be\u00a0mandatory for all new four-wheelers to have FASTag devices\u00a0fixed on front windscreens by automobile manufacturers or authorised dealers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FASTag is presently operational at about 370 toll plazas across National Highways. The system is inter-operable and the same FASTag can be used across all toll plazas under the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FASTags can be recharged online through Credit Card \/ Debit Card \/NEFT\/ RTGS or Net Banking. The minimum and maximum amount allowed to be recharged is Rs 100 and Rs 1 lakh, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FASTags are non-transferable and one FASTag can be used only for one vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What documents are required to purchase FASTag?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To purchase FASTag, you need to submit a copy of the Registration Certificate (RC) of the vehicle and a passport-size photograph of the vehicle owner. Apart from these documents, you need to submit KYC documents as per the category of the vehicle owner. The KYC documents (ID and address proof) can be one or more from PAN Card\/Driving License\/Passport\/Voter ID\/Aadhaar Card (with address).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, there are many private and public sector banks which have partnered with the NHAI.\u00a0HDFC Bank,\u00a0ICICI Bank,\u00a0Syndicate Bank,\u00a0Axis Bank,\u00a0IDFC Bank\u00a0and\u00a0State Bank of India\u00a0are among them.\u00a0Among the payments banks, Paytm offers FASTag to its buyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A user can also ask the automobile companies to install it on the vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A customer needs to submit a copy of the following documents along with the application for FASTag:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Registration Certificate (RC) of the vehicle<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Passport size photograph of the vehicle owner<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. KYC documents, i.e., any of these\u2014Driving license, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID Card or Aadhar Card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
