India Vs South Africa; First Test, India 202/0

Rohit Sharma Slammed Century 115*

Visakhapatnam: Rohit Sharma slammed his maiden ton as Test opener as India continued their dominance over South Africa in the second session on Day 1 of the first Test in Vizag. Riding on Rohit’s fourth Test century, India went to tea at 202 without any loss. Resuming on 91/0 post lunch, both Rohit and Mayank showed aggressive intent in the second session, taking on the South African bowlers, espicially spinners. Rohit, in particular, looked unstoppable as he took his sixes count to 5 during his unbeaten 115-run knock. Mayank (84*) too got past his previous highest score (77) in Test cricket. Bad light and overcast weather forced umpires to take tea break before the scheduled time.

Rohit Sharma headlined the opening day of the first Test against South Africa with a stunning century in Vizag on Wednesday. With his first Test century as an opener and 4th overall, Rohit Sharma achieved an average of 98.22 in Tests in India. In 15 innings, Rohit has scored 884 runs, including four hundreds and five fifties. Interestingly, Rohit Sharma’s average is the joint-best among all batsmen with 10-plus innings, sharing the top spot with none other than the legendary Don Bradman, who also averaged 98.22 at home in 50 innings.
