Indian bowlers held their nerves to bowl out Bangladesh for 286 as they won their penultimate league fixture by 28 runs and reached the semifinals of the World Cup 2019. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya starred with the ball taking four and three wickets respectively. Chasing a target of 315, Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals even though Shakib Al Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin kept them in the hunt. But Indian bowlers deserved credit for the disciplined show in the death overs.
Earlier, India squandered a great opportunity to post a big total despite a solid 180-run opening stand. They were restricted to 314/9. Electing to bat, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul gave a terrific start as India were hoping for a 350 pus total. India’s middle-order once again failed to impress and the former champions were restricted to a fighting total at Edgbaston, Birmingham. For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman finished with 5/59. Rohit Sharma continued his dream run slamming his fourth century of the tournament but the Indian innings once again lacked the final flourish.
